15th - 19th of August
Another usual week at work with the same usual work, updating the B2B website, check for any inquiry. There's nothing much that I can do during this week 'cause boss did not come to the office for the whole week, and have not yet emailed me the information that I needed for the Hindalco's letterhead and business card, and also he have not yet tell me what changes I should do for the finalization of the work I've done. On the 19th of August (Friday), boss called me through phone cause he was not in the office. He was asking me to design a new logo for this Indian company called Headwin Exim, but I haven't completed it yet, just some few research and sketches.

8th - 12th of August
As usual, Monday was not a good day for me, it is because there's always nothing that I can do except for my daily task that is to update the 5 platforms of B2B website. There's was nothing much that i had to do on Monday (8th August). On the 10th-11th i start on doing the letterhead for the Hindalco's company,as usual, research,sketching and importing it to the computer to digitalize it. But still, until now I haven't had the chance to complete it since my boss did not give me the information to be put in the letterhead. I also did some retouches on the business card for the Hindalco's company, again it is not complete finish because of the missing information that my boss said he wanted to give me. On the 12th of August, I was called for a meeting around 12.30pm. In the meeting, we were discussing about finalizing everything that I've done during the internship period, so he asked me to list down everything that I've done and emailed it to him, since he will be really busy for the following week. So after the meeting ended, I emailed him everything that needs to be finalize. Well that's it for the whole week, below are few example of the business card:

38-42 days of internship
On the 30th of July (Saturday) I had to work from home, cause boss need to finalize the coal bag on that day cause his company want to used it ASAP. The sad part of that day is that, he said that all the packaging that I emailed him was to fancy, he wants he really really really simple. So finally I end up with this design for the cement bag:

1st - 5th of August
I was still waiting for my boss answer for the Hindalco logo design, before he choose the two design that he asked me to play with the colors placement, but until now I still have no answers about the final logo. So on the 1st - 5th of August I was really free, there's was not much work I have to do, except for the daily task that I have to do, which is updating the B2B website and also do the searching on other steel melting company. But on the 4th of July, boss come to my place for dinner with my family, at dinner I was asked to design a business card for the Hindalco company, even though he have not yet choose the final logo design. So the next day, I started to do some research on simple business card design and some few sketches.

32-37 days of Internship
It has been a long, really long time that I haven't updated my blog, I've been really busy with works, plus some family gathering and activities and travelling around with friends. Well to be honest, puasa have made me a little bit lazy to work, but I still manage to complete my work on time.
22nd to 29th of July
On the 22nd of July, which falls on friday, there's nothing much that I have to do except updating the B2B website and do some finalization again on the brochure design. On the 25th of July, I was given a new task, that is to create a new packaging design for Wellcarbon company, and to new logo design for his other company (Hindalco). Besides I have to continue searching for the lastest News about coal product and also, I have to search again for more steel melting company. So after being brief about what I should do, I started to do a little research on packaging (like cement beg) and also some research for the new logo design. On the 26th - 29th of July, I started to work on the sketching, importing the sketches (logo and packaging) into computer and create it in AI. On the 29th of July the logo (I was to do a simple font type logo) and packaging was finalize, so I emailed my boss for him to choose the design that he wants, I also started to do the steel melting company research and the latest news about coal product after submitting the design to my boss.

29-31 days of internship
18th - 21th July 2011
I was ask to design a brochure. so it took me like a few days to complete the overall brochure design. There was also a reference for me to follow, the reference was given by the boss. It is not my final design brochure since the boss said i still have to do some little modification to it, but i haven't start the modification yet, since the boss said he'll discuss about it later. In between those days, i also have to update the B2B website and check if there is any enquiry from any customers. Well, on the 16th and 17th of july, which is saturday and sunday. Boss can't stop calling me and ask me to duplicate the receipt that he wanted to used immediately. It was kind of though because we were discussing about what he wants through the phone. He started asking me to do it, on the saturday night, so i end up finishing what he wants on sunday evening. Well that is an experience! 15-17 days of internship
27th - 29th of June 2011
Basically for the past few days, I started to do my research on envelope design, do some sketching,and digitalizing. On the 28th of June my boss said he still needs to put a little changes on the catalog design for the product part. There was 15 products in total that was equal to 8 pages of product. It took me the whole day to make the changes. Also the worst part is that, at first he asked me to do it in A4 size, a few hours later he told me to do it in a smaller size then A4, few minutes after that he asked to change it back to A4 size, then a few hours more he asked to change it to the smaller size again. To be honest it was pretty annoying at first, but yah it is an experience. Finally on the 29th, which was yesterday the catalog was approved by both boss except last night he called me and ask me to export it into PDF file for the catalog to be put online. Also I started to put the envelope design in the computer to digitalize it. Well basically thats what happen for the 3 days of my internship. :). The two days was all about the designing of logo. I design around 5 design of logo, but sadly in the end that is on the 17th of June he choose back the old logo but I still have to make slight changes to it. Well it was very tiring because after designing,researching,sketching other logos, he still chose the old logo. Below is the image of the logo:

The whole week was all about the catalog. Researching, sketching, designing and digitalizing. At first I design around 3 catalog design. My boss chose one design. After choosing one design, boss wanted to make it look as simple as possible. So I redesign everything and make it as simple as I can. The whole week, everyday i completed the catalog there must be a slight,little changes I have to do on the catalog. Until the 24th of June, finally the catalog was approved. But I was still not sure if the catalog design was really what they want, cause it was not yet approved by the other boss. So I was not really that happy. Well that's what happen for the whole week. 7th day of internship

Still doing the research about other companies while waiting for another task to be given. So in the end I end up doing research for 30 companies. Today I was told that I had a meeting with two of my boss. The meeting was at 3pm in the afternoon. In the meeting I was asked to search another p2p platform to promote our product such as Tradekey, Made in China and so forth. I was also told to create a new catalog, logo, envelope and packaging bag design for our company. The meeting end at 5pm in the evening. So that's it for now.

6th day of internship

Continue doing the research on other company. At first i thought it was an easy task, but honestly it was kind of difficult because not all company give their complete address and contact number, some also does not have their net sales, or revenue. So i had to google and google until i find the right one. Some company also does not provide an english language, so it was really difficult to understand. So it took me the whole day to complete doing research in total of 20 companies. After completing it, i check the Alibaba, and luckily the web banner design was approve. Below is the approve web banner and template:

After two days of holiday, my boss has given me his comment and approval on which web banner design should be put into the mini website. Well i had to made a few changes on the design, because he commented that the company logo is too small and it should be on the left side of the banner. I had it fixed, and i input it into the mini website of Alibaba, unfortunately i have to wait at least 24 hours for the Alibaba to approve the banner design as well as the template. Below is the banner that my boss chose:

After completing all the sketching, i start importing it into the computer into photoshop. I used the images that was given to me by the company. Well honestly it took me several hours to complete all the 7 design or in other word to digitalize the 7 designs. After a few hours pass by, i completed digitalizing all the design, still i need to touch it up and make more improvement on it. After i was fully satisfied i print screen the template and paste the web banner design to the template. Below is how the template and few of my banner looks like:
After applying all the 7 design on the template, i emailed it to my boss to get some comment and feedback and also his approval on which design he want.

After a few hours completing doing the research and all, i started sketching for ideas about 1-2 hours of my working hours. Luckily it was not as long as doing the research. I end up doing 7 sketches. No picture of sketches was taken. Ill put up later on my other post. That's all for today.

2nd day of internship
8th June 2011
This is because when you type one name, the same product will appear on the same page of the searching product, even if you type a different product name the same product of the same category will appear because I applied 2-3 names for the same product, but I must ensure that, the product name is related to the product. Example, I type pitch coke, when actually the product name is calcined pitch coke, but the product style appear. Below picture might explain what I mean by it.
So this is basically what I do for today. :)
As I was told yesterday, I was asked to help Mr James(Boss) with the online selling product. So he assist me and help me on how to used the Alibaba.com webs. I was also given my own user id and password so that i can easily log in into the admin.There's a new fact that Mr James told me about this online selling product, he told me that the very important thing to remember to increase the rank in the search engine for Alibaba is to have a good product name and a different product that relate to one product and not the product keyword, well this was based on the Alibaba person.
After completing searching for good product names and completing putting or key in all the products and product pictures, I have learn a product name is important rather than the product keyword.

1st day of internship

Today was all about the briefing on the company and product and what I should do for the internship. We had the discussion on my working schedule for the 3 month of internship. Below is the schedule:
1st month of internship:
I was ask to learn and get more information about the company and the product that they are selling and how to advertise the product through online selling. During the 1st month also I'll be learning about the function of the Alibaba.com which is also known as online 3-commerce such as Ebay. I'll be the one in charge of this e-commerce by key in the product, information as editing the information of the product. I was also asked to search more information to put on the e-commerce site so it will be easier for the customer to understand about the product. Beside I was also ask to design a image banner for the mini-website inside the Alibaba.com itself. Unfortunately, the template was unable to edit since they have a fix template for it.
2nd month of internship:
For the 2nd month I was ask to built a fully function website that focus more on chemical product that is under the company of Wellcarbon itself. In this month I'll be focusing only on building the website from scratch.
3rd month of internship:
As for the 3rd month we haven't really discussed what I should really do, but I might be working on by doing some brochure, pamplete or probably an exhibition booth design for the Wellcarbon company.
So this is probably what I should do for my internship, they might be a few changes as time pass by. Today was only about discussing about things I should do and learn.

Dragon Boat Festival
6th June 2011
Today was suppose to be the first day of my internship, well luckily my boss emailed me and ask me to start and come to the office tomorrow because today is a public holiday. Today they held a festival know as Dragon Boat Festival. This festival is like a thrilling sports events with full of colors. Its is known as a Chinese festival that they celebrated on which falls on the fifth day on the fifth month on the lunar calendar.
What I do today was to go out with my father and sis to search for my new, Hong Kong mobile number, so we had to go the Causeway Bay city, to search for it. It was very crowded, people here and there. After getting the mobile number, we went straight home and enjoy ourselves by watching movies and screaming our lungs out by singing, except our father. It was fun! :)

Pre-meeting

Landed in Hong Kong around 2.00pm. I was called for a pre-meeting around 5.30pm, it was
a pre-meeting with the companies manager and assistant which is going to assist me during my internship. This meeting took place in a city called Central(Hong Kong). Basically in the meeting, we were discussing about what work I have to do and learn during the internship, such as website editing which might include e-commerce, brochure and pamplete and probably exhibition booth design. Well that's all for now. :)

Basically in the meeting, we were discussing about what work I have to do and learn during the internship, such as website editing which might include e-commerce, brochure and pamplete and probably exhibition booth design. Well that's all for now. :)
